Fake news under the magnifying glass – Trolls vs Elves in action
“Trolls vs Elves” is an innovative educational project in the form of an interactive web application that addresses the topic of disinformation and the fight against fake news in the digital space. The user takes on the role of an active participant in the digital narrative, following the story of Ukrainian refugees and learning about the mechanisms of action of Internet trolls and digital defenders of the truth – Cyber Elves.
The project combines elements of documentary film, gamification, data analysis and educational testing to create an immersive user experience. The main goal was to develop media competence, critical thinking skills and strengthen public awareness of disinformation.
Task
For the “Trolls vs Elves” project, we have created a modern web application that acts as an interactive educational platform. The user goes through a variety of activities - from analyzing multimedia materials (videos, graphics, texts), to solving quizzes and tests, to participating in simulation scenarios. At the end of the path, the user receives a personalized report and a certificate of completion. We built the whole thing using React and TypeScript technology, which ensures stability, speed of operation and flexibility for further development. The platform has also been adapted to support multiple languages, which makes it possible to reach a wide audience from different countries.
